How do payments and deposits work on Nolex?

Every payment on Nolex goes through Stripe, and Nolex never stores card numbers: card details are entered in Stripe's secure forms, and Nolex only receives confirmation that the payment succeeded. At checkout the renter is charged three things together: the rental price, a refundable security deposit and, when the listing offers it, optional damage coverage. The deposit protects the host if an item is damaged or not returned. When the rental ends and the host reports no problems, the deposit and the damage coverage are refunded automatically to the same card, without any request from the renter. For hosts, the rental amount is credited to their connected Stripe account through Stripe Connect and then paid out to their bank following Stripe's normal payout timing, while the deposit stays held until the end of the rental. The whole flow, from booking to final payout, runs inside the platform, and every booking shows its status and amounts.

How does identity verification work on Nolex?

Nolex checks who is on both sides of a rental. Renters verify their identity once, before their first booking, through Stripe Identity: it is a one-time check that takes just a few minutes, and Nolex receives the result of the verification rather than copies of the documents you upload. Hosts go through their own verification, called KYB (know your business), before they can publish a first listing. It collects the information needed to confirm there is a real person or business behind every listing, and it works for individuals renting out a single item as well as for companies with a full catalog. Beyond these checks, personal contact details such as email and phone number stay hidden until a booking is confirmed, so nobody is contacted before there is an actual agreement. Together these steps are designed to make each rental safer for everyone involved, without asking for more than is needed.
