Terms of service
The rules that keep Nolex safe for renters and hosts alike.
Draft — pending legal review
This page accurately describes how Nolex works, but the text hasn't been reviewed by a lawyer yet and isn't in effect. Don't rely on this page for legal decisions until the final version is published.
The service
Nolex is a platform that connects people who want to rent an item with those who make it available (hosts, individuals or businesses). Nolex doesn't own the items being rented and isn't a party to the rental agreement between them.
Accounts and verification
To book, you need to verify your identity through Stripe Identity. To publish listings as a host, you need to complete business verification (KYB), even if you're only renting out a single item — see the "Become a host" page for details.
Bookings and payments
Payment, the security deposit, and any damage coverage are charged through Stripe at the time of booking. The deposit and damage coverage are refunded automatically if the rental ends with no issues reported.
Cancellations
If a host cancels a confirmed booking, the customer always receives a full refund. [TODO: conditions and timing for cancellations made by the renter.]
Responsibilities
Renters are responsible for using the item correctly during the rental period. Hosts are responsible for the accuracy of their own listing (photos, price, item condition).
Account suspension
Nolex may suspend an account for violating these terms or engaging in behavior that puts the community's safety at risk.
Governing law
[TODO: governing law and jurisdiction.]
